Most, not all, but most of the immediate Melton family live in or close to Norwich Norfolk.
This seems to have been the family home for quite sometime.
Here we explore who we think was the first in the family to come to Norwich and also we include a video that gives information on our home city

George and Mary's son Morris Myhill Barnabus Melton is our next direct line male descendant, and who appears to be the first Melton who came to Norwich (as previously mentioned, the rest of the family moved to london). Morris was baptised on the 30th of june 1852 in Topcroft.

He moved to Norwich sometime before 1876, where we know that he married Rebecca Shorten of Sprowston Norwich. Records show that "a" Morris Melton married in Norwich in 1872, but we are awaiting confirmation as to whether this is "the same" Morris Melton, therfore having been married twice.

Rebecca,(daughter of Rebecca and Daniel Shorten), and Morris lived in the Sprowston area of Norwich.
They had nine children that we know of to date, including a set ot twins. Eight of the children were baptised at St Mary and St Margarets Church Sprowston, the other was baptised at St Cuthberts Church Sprowston.
Two of their daughters, Ellen and Agnes married two brothers, the interesting thing is, that they married back into the Shorten family.
Rebecca and Morris last born, Albert, died as an infant and was buried in the churchyard of St Mary and St Margaret's Sprowston in 1890. Morris was also buried there in 1919.

Our Great-Grandfather George Daniel Melton ( pictured with his wife Florence), was a son of Rebecca and Morris. He was Born on the 13th september 1877.
He married Florence Dungar in Salhouse in 1910.
They had eight children of which unfortunately none are still with us. Grandad "ted" was one of the eight children.

GEORGE AND FLORENCE
Florence and George are buried beside each other at St Mary and St Margaret's Church yard. Florence died in 1951 and George followed in 1952.
